It was twenty years ago today when we lost possibly the greatest and most inspiring talent the world of Motorsport has ever seen, Aryton Senna.
“And suddenly I realised that I was no longer driving the car consciously. I was driving it by a kind of instinct, only I was in a different dimension.”
If you don’t know anything about Senna or even if you aren’t a fan of Formula 1, I would encourage you to watch ‘Senna’ the movie. It’s a great insight into not only the career of Senna but it also shows how generous he was.
“Wealthy men can’t live in an island that is encircled by poverty. We all breathe the same air. We must give a chance to everyone, at least a basic chance.”
Although the passing of Senna was extremely sad, he did not die in vain, a great deal of the safety precautions that are now in place within Motorsport are there because of lessons learned from him passing away at Imola. So instead of concentrating on his death, I think it is more important to celebrate his life and the great success he achieved throughout it.
Remember Aryton Senna, 1960-1994.
