This summer I’ve been lucky enough to visit a number of car shows in the UK that I’ve never been to before but have been meaning to get to for some time, and today was no different. I made the journey to Players Show which was held at the North Weald Airfield in Essex. I first heard about this show a few years back and have always kept an eye on the pictures from the show since then.
When I arrived at the Airfield I drove through the gates and was greeted by a makeshift race track that was surrounded by various track cars and even a few super cars. It turned out to be a track day that was completely separate from the Players event, despite this it was still great to see this airstrip was being used for more than one section of the automotive community. As I drove on through the airfield, I began to see all types of Aircrafts adorning my directed route to the show, and I have to say this was a great backdrop/setting for a car show.
Once I had reached the make shift car park, I then made my way to the show/display area. I passed some cracking looking cars in the car park, which made me look forward to the cars in the display area even more.
I quickly noticed that there were A LOT of cars on display and the amount of people surrounding the cars was crazy, I knew right away it wasn’t going to be easy getting some decent snaps and with the weather unable to decide if it was sunny or cloudy I also had to battle with the cameras exposure levels.
Overall I was extremely impressed with level of cars on display, there really was something for everyone there. From the old to the new, to Stanced cars, Race cars, JDM cars, to the Vag Scene, there were even a few cars from the US, not to mention the airplanes and helicopters, all bases were well and truly covered!
I have to say the facilities were very good, there were enough toilets and food stands to keep people happy and there was a live DJ playing on a large open stage which was great to see and even some drifting for good measure.
One thing I wasn’t too keen on was the amount of cars that were tightly packed together throughout the show. I do realise that there were a lot of cars to show and a limited amount of space to show them , however I do think if they were organized a bit differently it would have made it easier to make my way through each section. Particularly in the indoor hangars, there were loads of cars put in and with the amount of people there it made it quite difficult to get pics. I also would have liked to have seen more cars organized into club stands, there were a few there I seen like that and generally these stands were much easier to get through. Other than that I really can’t complain and had a great day out at the Players Show. It’s great to see so many people come out for a car event and show off their cars, which they have modified and prepared to the highest standards possible. I hope the show continues to be successful and I hope to be back again.
