When you think of the things F1 drivers get up to on their own free time you immediately think of parties on luxury yachts, shopping for supercars or holidaying in exotic locations, however Lotus F1 drivers, Romain Grosjean & Pastor Maldonado seem to enjoy their time by racing the Renault Twizy through shopping centres.
Reanult released the short video, showing the Formula 1 drivers each taking a Twizy for a nippy run through the world’s largest shopping centre, the Dubai Mall – showing just how nimble the little car really is.
The tiny electric car is powered by a 13kW electric motor with a lithium-ion battery that takes it from 0 to 30mph in 8.4 seconds and has a top speed of just 50mph. While those stats might not be all that impressive on the road, when you’re drifting around the polished marble floors of the worlds largest mall I’m sure it’s heaps of fun!
As the two drivers effortlessly navigate their way through the shopping centre, they can be seen pulling hand brake turns and at one point Grosjean even takes a detour onto a skating rink inside the mall to show off his skills.
Oh to be an F1 driver…
