German car firm Mercedes has announced a that special edition of their luxury SL sports car will be released in celebration of the 60th anniversary of John Fitch’s historic win at Mille Miglia. The Mille Miglia 417 package will include both styling and performance upgrades.
Debuting at the Geneva Motor Show next month, the upgrade package consists of exterior upgrades such as a bootlid spoiler; red and matt carbon inserts all-round and AMG wheels (19-inch at the front, 20-inch at the rear) that sport a red outer lip.
The interior has been treated to carbon fibre panels, lavish red trim around the cabin and bespoke steering wheel that compliments the new seats.
The chassis and powertrain can be found on the current car, however the SL417 gets standard-fit adaptive dampers and the firm’s Active Body Control (ABC) system. According to Mercedes this will help with stability when cornering and provide a smoother drive for day-to-day driving.
UK prices have yet to be confirmed, though this sporty package will cost an extra €14,000 to the standard car in Germany. I will be sure to keep you updated when the car is unveiled at Geneva next month.
