At the beginning of the month Aston Martin showcased it’s all new road legal track focused Vantage – the Vantage GT3 – at the Geneva Motor Show. The limited edition performance car, of which only 100 examples will be put into production, boasts a V12 engine capable of producing 595bhp.
However the car will now receive a slight name change as rival car creators Porsche weren’t too happy with Aston Martins using GT3. Porsche feel that the GT3 moniker belongs to the 911 and as a result threatened the Gaydon based luxury car maker with legal action.
Whilst no official legal action was taken, Aston Martin have listened to Porsches request and agreed to change the name of the car to the Vantage GT12. Whilst I do think the Vantage GT3 name does have a nicer ring to it, I have a feeling the new owners of these exclusive performance cars will be driving too fast to even care.
