Porsche has revealed a pair of new Black Edition models, and as the name would suggest – the two new models have been completely blacked out, featuring black paintwork, black interiors and even more black highlights inside and out.
The Porsche Boxster Black Edition uses the standard car’s mid-mounted 2.7-litre flat-six engine. It gets 261bhp and is good for 0-62mph in 5.8 seconds.
Design highlights include black paint, a set of 20-inch Carrera Classic wheels, xenon headamps and a black soft top. Inside, all cars get a partial-leather black interior with the Porsche crest embossed on the headrests, as well as touchscreen sat-nav and a Sport Design steering wheel. Parking sensors and an upgraded sound system are also included, as are auto lights and wipers and cruise control.
Prices starts from £46,164, £6,631 more than the standard Boxster. The faster Boxster S still starts at £47,858 – but isn’t available as a Black Edition model.
Porsche has also given the 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera Cabriolet the same black edition treatment. With all cars getting the entry-level 345bhp 3.4-litre flat-six, with a choice of two or four-wheel drive, as well as 20-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and Porsche’s Dynamic Light System Plus. On the interior, you’ll find heated leather seats, a Bose sound system, cruise control and a Sport Design steering wheel. Front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera and rain sensing wipers all come as standard equipment.
Pricing for the Porsche 911 Black Edition starts at £75,074 for the standard Coupe, and increases to £86,125 for the all-wheel drive Carrera 4 Cabriolet. While both Black Edition Coupe models cost more than their base-spec siblings, the Cabriolets, for some reason cost slightly less.
Both the Boxster and 911 Black Edition models are now available to buy.
