Good news for Top Gear fans, while the show may have been pulled off the air in March, Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond are now poised to announce not one but two new programmes, plus the finale of the last series of Top Gear (featuring Clarkson, Hammond and May) will air this Sunday 28 June at 8pm.
Clarkson has also confirmed he will host a new motoring show with May and Hammond, which is likely to be revealed within the next few weeks. If rumours are to be believed the new series will air on Netflix.
At the same time, James May will front a new BBC2 motoring show, ‘Building Cars Live’. The new show will consist of two 90-minute episodes and be broadcast live from BMW’s Mini factory in Oxford. It will track in real time the transformation from raw materials to finished vehicle. “I can’t wait to build a car. Live.” said May.
A new Top Gear is now set to return some time after next March, with Chris Evans at the helm, who has also been put in charge of finding some new co-hosts. The BBC has advertised for replacements for James May and Richard Hammond, inviting applicants from around the world to submit a 30-second video clip online by July 20.
