2019 Toyota Supra will make world debut at Goodwood FOS

Toyota Europe has announced on twitter that the production version of the 2019 Toyota Supra will make its world debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next week.

Although the car will be wrapped in a special camo livery in Gazoo Racing colours, this will be the first time the public will get to see the production car – codenamed A90 – as it tackles the hill at Goodwood.

There has been a lot of hype and speculation surrounding the return of the iconic Toyota Supra and earlier this year, Toyota unveiled a Supra GR concept at the Geneva Motor Show.

Exact details on pricing and specification for the production model are still to be revealed but what we do know is that the car will be built on a shared platform which was designed in collaboration with BMW.

Toyota’s Chief Engineer behind the Supra, Tetsuya Tada, said a front-mounted six-cylinder turbocharged engine would power the rear wheels and rumours have suggested that the car will offer around 330bhp from an in-line six motor supplied by BMW. Tada-San was keen to point out that even though the car is built on a shared platform, it will be a completely different car from what is being offered by BMW.
