The McLaren F1 team has released a  tongue in cheek video entitled “Back to the Race track” which is set in the style of the hit movie Back to the Future.  McLaren released the video on the eve of the launch of its new 2015 racing car, the MP4-30 – it features F1 drivers Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso.

In the film, Button re-enacts Marty McFlys part as he turns up at the McLaren Technology centre on a skateboard, while Fernando Alonso plays the role of Doc Brown and reveals a McLaren 650S time machine from a cloud of smoke and light on the back of a transporter.

Button boards the 650S as Alonso controls the car via a remote.
Alonso then climbs aboard and the pair set the time machine for the first race of the season in Australia.

“Roads? We don’t need roads where we’re going,” says Button  “but we do need a racetrack!”

The unveiling of the MP4-30, the first McLaren-Honda F1 car since 1992, takes place today. Follow the team’s Twitter feed for updates.
